{"id":63260,"date":"2022-10-03T09:47:02","date_gmt":"2022-10-03T07:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/olimpijski.pl\/?p=63260"},"modified":"2022-10-03T09:47:41","modified_gmt":"2022-10-03T07:47:41","slug":"serbian-high-jumper-topic-named-best-summer-sport-young-athlete-of-europe-for-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/olimpijski.pl\/en\/serbian-high-jumper-topic-named-best-summer-sport-young-athlete-of-europe-for-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"Serbian High Jumper Topi\u0107 named Best Summer Sport Young Athlete of Europe for 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The European Olympic Committees (EOC) is delighted to announce that Serbian High Jumper Angelina Topi\u0107 has been crowned the winner of the 2022 Piotr Nurowski \u201eBest Summer European Young Athlete\u201d Prize after votes were cast by the European NOCs at the International Olympic Academy in Olympia, Greece.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Topi\u0107 narrowly won the prize as she edged out Great Britain diver Andrea Spendolini Sirieix in the votes by 33% to 31%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Belgrade, Serbia in 2005, Angelina is already ranked among the top 20 high jumpers in the world. The 17-year-old athlete has excelled in 2022 setting a new World U18 record in the high-jump. She has also secured national records at U18 &amp; U20 in the pentathlon and at senior level for the high jump. Topi\u0107 burst onto the scene when she won gold in the girl\u2019s high jump at the European Athletics U18 Championships Jerusalem 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the European Championships Munich 2022, Topi\u0107 made history by becoming the youngest ever medallist in the history of the competition when she claimed the bronze medal in the women\u2019s high jump event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201eI would like to make history in high jump and become one of the greatest ever. My dream is to set world records in each age category and to finalise it by winning a gold medal at the Olympics,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked what it meant to her to win the award, Topi\u0107 stated, \u201eBoth my parents are Olympians, so I had no choice but to be raised with the Olympic values at home from a young age. Winning this award is a dream come true. It has given me extra motivation to train hard and inspire other young athletes to achieve their dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the Piotr Nurowski Prize trophy, Angelina Topi\u0107 takes home a EUR 15,000 training scholarship, with runner-up Andrea Spendolini Sirieix receiving EUR 8,000 and EUR 5,000 going to third-place finisher Filippo Bertoni.
