The Olympic Channel is a multi-platform global media destination where fans can discover, engage and share in the power of sport and the excitement of the Olympic Games year round. The Olympic Channel, in support of the IOC’s goal set out in Olympic Agenda 2020, is providing a new way to engage younger generations, fans and new audiences with the Olympic Movement, through its cooperation with National Olympic Committees. The Polish Olympic Committee (POC) has the ability to offer archival videos from the Olympic arenas all over the world.
The Olympic Channel not only features coverage of competitions in Olympic sport, but also creates and shares original content such as films and series, which mainly focus on Olympians, their preparations and their lifestyles.
Yiannis Exarchos, Executive Director of the Olympic Channel and CEO of Olympic Broadcasting Services stated that the service’s content focuses mainly on the stories of athletes, arguing this with the words:
“We need to take some risks and it’s better to take risks now because we’re stronger that we’ve ever been. The personalities of athletes, their lifestyles, are something very, very attractive”.
